Overview
About Cherry Grove Pier
Located in North Myrtle Beach is the beautiful neighborhood of Cherry Grove. Known as a great fishing community, Cherry Grove is home to the famous Cherry Grove Pier. Boasting 985 feet of fishing space, this family-friendly attraction allows vacationers to try their hand at ocean fishing, as well as provide a space for avid fishers to spend the day under the South Carolina sun.
Known for record catches like a 98 lb. Tarpon and a 1,780 lb. tiger shark, the Cherry Grove Pier has a great history. The pier was built in the 1950’s, and has been owned by the Prince family since 1965. However, though Cherry Grove Pier has seen a great run with its family ownership, and has celebrated great catches, it has also been weathered and destroyed by hurricanes throughout the years.
In 1999, Hurricane Floyd struck the Cherry Grove Pier and, unfortunately, caused some major damage. However, the pier was reconstructed and now has the only two-story observation deck along the Grand Strand.
Cherry Grove Pier is great for those who want to take a stroll by the ocean, for those who want to fish for red drum, bluefish, mackerel, spots, whiting, summer flounder, and sea trout. Guests can also try crabbing for Blue Crab at the Cherry Grove Pier as well.
Cherry Grove Pier houses a full-service bait and tackle shop as well as a gift shop. Stop by the tackle shop and rent a rod for the day, or bring your own!
One day fishing passes cost $2 with an additional cost of $6 if you bring your own rod. Daily rod rentals costs $20 per day with a deposit. For those looking to fish in the afternoon, there are afternoon discounts. If you just want to take a walk on the pier, admission is only $2 per person.
